Program Description
Female hair loss presents a complex diagnostic and therapeutic challenge requiring multidisciplinary collaboration. This CME-accredited webinar brings together leading experts in dermatology, endocrinology, surgery, and psychiatry to address key topics in female hair restoration. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of diagnostic strategies, surgical approaches tailored to women, hormonal therapies, psychosocial support, and techniques such as long-hair FUE and eyebrow restoration. Special emphasis is placed on underrepresented patient populations, such as women of color with scarring alopecia.
Professional Practice Gap
Despite increasing demand, many clinicians lack training specific to the diagnosis and management of female-pattern hair loss, which differs significantly from male-pattern baldness. Additionally, surgical techniques such as eyebrow restoration and long-hair transplantation in women are underutilized due to limited education. Psychosocial aspects, including the emotional toll of hair loss on women, are often overlooked in routine practice. Scarring alopecia in women of color remains underdiagnosed and poorly understood.
Educational Need
There is a demonstrated need for:
- Increased awareness and diagnostic skills for various types of female hair loss.
- Gender-specific surgical and medical treatment planning.
- Knowledge of endocrine evaluation and hormonal therapy options.
- Emphasis on ethnic diversity and scarring alopecia patterns in women of color.
- Addressing the psychological impact of hair loss and counseling techniques.
- Technical familiarity with long-hair transplantation and eyebrow restoration in women.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this webinar, attendees should be able to:
- Differentiate among the most common causes of female hair loss and outline a diagnostic approach.
- Adapt surgical planning and transplant techniques to better suit female anatomy and aesthetic goals.
- Explain the role of hormonal evaluation and management in treating female patients with alopecia.
- Recognize scarring alopecia presentations in women of color and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
- Integrate psychological assessment and counseling as part of holistic hair loss treatment.
- Describe the procedural steps and indications for eyebrow and long-hair FUE in women.
Target Audience and Prerequisites
This webinar is taught at the physician level. It is open to all levels and geared toward advanced hair restoration surgeons.
