Program Description
This online webinar will take place at the time and date listed above. The online webinar will be recorded and available on demand until January 10, 2025. This 2 hour CME webinar will be available with the intention of having a resource that can be viewed on demand to further the education of all those who register. The topics covered are fairly diverse and are not situations that arise regularly in every-day practice. However, this is to bring awareness to possible complications or emergencies that may occur – and how to manage them.
The online live program will include presentations, panel discussions, and audience participation via live verbal questions and discussion, typed chat Q&A, and polling.
Professional Practice Gap
Most surgeries proceed smoothly, without complications or incidents. However, at any point a rare complication may occur or an emergency may arise. These unpredictable events are not typically part of a surgeon’s regular training. By pooling together a group of presenters who have had complications and emergencies, we can provide education to other surgeons to guide them in responding to such an event, should it occur in their practice. It may also lead surgeons to reconsider their surgical consent forms or questionnaires, in order to possibly avoid such an occurrence in their practice.
Educational Need
Other than the annual conference M&M, complications during hair restoration surgery are rarely discussed or shared. In private emails and communications we occasionally learn of such events, and how they were managed. This webinar will provide some instruction and education in an open format. The discussion will also allow for input regarding other approaches that may be used to improve outcomes. The topics covered are wide ranging and may occur rarely if ever in private practice. This webinar gives the attendees the knowledge of how to recognize such problems and how best to avoid them – or manage them if the situation arises.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participating in this webinar, the attendees should be able to:
Identify and address the following complications and emergencies:
- Recognize and manage an AV fistula
- Pituitary function and management relating to surgery
- Managing blood pressure crises during a hair restoration procedure
- Recreational drug use and implications/complications in hair restoration surgery
- Beard transplant best practices to avoid cobblestoning/tenting
- Blood supply in the scalp, necrosis, and its management
- Unforeseen complications after hair transplant – folliculitis and LPP
Target Audience and Prerequisites
This webinar is taught at the physician level. It is open to all levels and geared toward advanced hair restoration surgeons.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credit Statement
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery designates this Other Activity (blended synchronous and enduring) for a maximum of 2.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
To receive CME credit and a CME certificate, participants must participate in the activity, complete the evaluation survey and the CME Claim Form by January 10, 2025.

- Conflict of Interest: Circumstances create a conflict of interest when an individual has an opportunity to affect CME content about products or services of an ineligible company with which he/she has a financial relationship.
The ACCME also requires that ISHRS manage any reported conflict and eliminate the potential for bias during the educational activity. Any conflicts noted below have been managed to our satisfaction. The disclosure information is intended to identify any commercial relationships and allow learners to form their own judgments. However, if you perceive a bias during the educational activity, please report it on the evaluation.
