INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF HAIR RESTORATION SURGERY (ISHRS) HOSTS EUROPE 2026 LIVE SURGERY WORKSHOP IN ROME, ITALY, MAY 24, 2026

CHICAGO (USA) – May 7, 2026.

Hair restoration surgeons looking to elevate their surgical skills will gather in Rome, Italy, to learn from the world’s leading experts in the art and science of hair restoration surgery at the ISHRS Europe 2026 Live Surgery Workshop: Rome, May 24, 2026. As part of its continued collaborative efforts with Global Council societies, the ISHRS – through its ISHRS Europe Council – is pleased to partner once again with the Italian Society for Hair Science and Restoration / Società Italiana di Tricologia (S.I.Tri.) for this full-day live surgery workshop.

Hosted by ISHRS members Chair Bruno Ferreira, MD, MSc, Portugal, and Co-Chair Laura Caicedo Albarello, MD, FISHRS, Spain, the live surgery workshop will provide attendees with an immersive educational experience featuring internationally recognized faculty and real-time surgical demonstrations.

“Workshop attendees will get a front-row seat to observe some of the most advanced techniques in the field of hair restoration surgery,” said Dr. Ferreira. “By engaging in interactive dialogue with our expert faculty, they will come away with a better understanding of how to tailor the intricacies of these procedures to their individual patients,” said Dr. Caicedo.

The program features three highly specialized operating rooms:

  • Shaven FUE hair transplant live surgery – A frontal hairline reconstruction will be performed using a fully shaven FUE technique. The objective is to showcase follicular unit excision with a variety of devices, from conventional to multiphasic systems, along with different implantation approaches including single and multi- implanters.
  • Combined non-shaven FUE + FUT live surgery – A combined non-shaven FUE and FUT procedure will be performed in the crown area of the scalp. The objective is to demonstrate different options that keep the head unshaven. In these methods, follicular units are excised individually or as a strip from the unshaved donor area, and only the harvested hair is trimmed for subsequent implantation.
  • Eyebrow hair transplant using long hair FUE technique – An eyebrow hair transplantation will be performed using the long hair FUE technique. Long hair FUE is an advanced technique in which follicular units are excised and removed from the unshaven donor area, but the harvested hair is left long for subsequent implantation. The method has an absolute indication in eyebrow transplantation, as it allows precise control of the curvature, direction, and angulation of the hair, achieving a much more natural and harmonious result.

Surgical faculty includes Maria Asensi-Bertomeu, MD (Spain); Edward Ball, BMBS, FISHRS (United Kingdom); Christian N. Bisanga, MD (Belgium); Vincenzo Gambino, MD, FISHRS (Italy); Hans Heinicke, MD (Spain); Chiara Insalaco, MD, PhD (Italy); Sofia Londoño, MD (Colombia); Andrea Manfreda, MD (Italy); Bruno Pinto Goncalves, MD, MSc (Portugal); Asim Shahmalak, MBBS, FISHRS (United Kingdom); Piero Tesauro, MD, PhD (Italy); Marco Toscani, MD, PhD (Italy); Ximena Vila, MD (Spain); Conradin von Albertini, MD, FISHRS (Switzerland); and Georgios Zontos, MD, MSc, PhD, FISHRS (Greece).

“The ISHRS is committed to hosting world-class educational events that bring the classroom to our members’ corner of the world,” said Conradin von Albertini, MD, FISHRS, ISHRS President. “The opportunity to share surgical pearls, ask questions, and connect with like-minded practitioners who share the common goal of enhancing patient results is a true representation of ISHRS’s dedication to educational excellence.”

The ISHRS 2025 Practice Census found that the average number of patients per member increased by 20% since 2021. The survey also determined that first-time hair restoration surgery patients skewed younger than the general adult population, with 95% initiating hair restoration surgery under the age of 35.
