Program Description
This 2.5 hour live webinar, “Strategic Donor Management & Long-Term Graft Planning,” is designed to summarize core clinical practices that should be considered standard of care in FUE and FUT donor harvesting procedures. The session will cover navigating the decision-making process for selecting appropriate therapeutic interventions based on patient diagnosis, age, family history, and associated medical conditions.
By addressing these critical topics, participants will gain an appreciation for the importance of staying current with the latest advances while preserving the gold standards that contribute to successful surgical and aesthetic outcomes.
Professional Practice Gap
Many practitioners in hair restoration focus primarily on the FUE method, potentially overlooking the benefits and appropriate use of FUT-based procedures. In recent years, there has also been increased interest in early surgical intervention for medically controlled scarring alopecia, with mixed but promising results.
Not all hair restoration surgeons fully understand the long-term benefits of integrating multiple therapeutic interventions into comprehensive treatment plans for both scarring and androgenetic alopecia. Often, short-term treatment planning limits the optimization of donor utilization over a patient’s lifetime.
Educational Need
The webinar addresses this gap by delivering targeted education on:
- FUE vs. FUT tools for donor management, customized to the patient’s long-term natural appearance
- Integration of medical and surgical interventions in the management of scarring alopecias
- The importance of thorough evaluation of family history and preoperative dermatoscopic examination to optimize donor area utilization
Improved understanding of these areas will enable participants to better assess and manage long-term surgical outcomes while maximizing the use of a limited lifetime donor supply.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role of preoperative donor area dermatoscopy in treatment planning
- Apply best practices for managing a limited lifetime donor supply
- Identify criteria for early surgical intervention in patients with scarring alopecia
- Compare contemporary medical treatment options for scarring alopecia
- Identify patients who may benefit from scalp expansion procedures
- Differentiate risk profiles between male pattern and female pattern hair loss
- Analyze how hair loss diagnosis impacts donor area risk and utilization
Assessment Methodology
- Live Q&A Sessions: Encourage interaction and clarify key concepts.
- Participant Feedback Form: Evaluate the relevance, quality, and applicability of the program.
Target Audience and Prerequisites
This webinar is taught at the physician level. It is open to all levels and geared toward advanced hair restoration surgeons.
