- ISHRS Physician Pending-Member, $75.00 USD
- Physician Non Member, $100.00 USD
Program Description
The recorded program will be available for viewing on demand until Dec. 31, 2022.
This 2-hour program is intended for physicians who perform hair transplantation surgery. This webinar is being conducted to provide physicians knowledge on foundational principles related to hairline design in males, females, and transgender patients, including patient consultation and recipient area preparation. As a result of this activity, learners will be able to discuss factors to consider when designing hairline and recipient area preparation, including site making, graft placement, dense packing, and post-operative care.
Professional Practice Gap
Advanced surgeons in the field regularly are presented with patients seeking repair of poorly constructed hairlines from previous hair transplant surgeries. The need exists to provide additional education on this topic so patients may receive better outcomes.
To create natural-looking hairlines during hair transplantation surgery, the principles of hairline design are crucial to understand for all surgeons. Male, female and transgender patients have different characteristics. In the unique areas such as temple points and in advanced hair loss, the design and planning may be challenging for some physicians. Recipient area preparation including depth-control site making, sagittal vs coronal incisions, graft placement and post-operative care is also an essential integrated topic of hairline construction. Techniques have been developed that result in less complications from the improper management of the recipient area. In addition, proper post-operative care can reduce edema, pain, and discomfort as well as lower complication rates.

Educational Need
Creating an aesthetically-pleasing hairline is a core component of a successful hair transplant outline. Physicians require the knowledge of hairline design and management of the recipient area. Specifically, physicians must understand the specific needs of patients with unique characteristics. For example, there are nuances that must be observed in males that are different than females, and further unique aspects in transgender patients. One special area that must be mastered is the design of temporal points. Physicians must properly prepare for surgery to minimize complications and have more successful surgery, minimizing the number of procedures a patient requires.
Target Audience and Prerequisites
This webinar is taught at the physician level. It is geared toward intermediate- to advanced-level hair restoration surgeons.
Learning Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, the learners should be able to:
- Discuss the principles of proper hairline design in patients with different characteristics.
- Describe multiple factors to consider when preparing the recipient area.
- List aspects to consider when designing a surgical plan for a patient with unique considerations, such as transgender or advanced hair loss.
- Identify the factors that may lead to complications from improper recipient preparation and graft placement.
Format
Internet/online, via computer or mobile device.
Official Language
The official language of the webinar is English. Simultaneous interpretation is not provided for this webinar.
