About the Doctor

Since 1985 Dr. Cotterill has had a private practice in Toronto, Canada, as well as consulting in New York City, limited exclusively to hair restoration. He has written extensively on hair transplantation and has been published in numerous textbooks, as well as lecturing internationally. He was the 1998 Annual Meeting Chairman for the ISHRS in Washington D.C. In addition to his surgical practice and being an honorary lecturer for the University of Toronto, Department of Dermatology, Dr. Cotterill has been an investigator for the Upjohn and Merck pharmaceutical company's on drugs aimed at slowing down or reversing male pattern baldness. Dr. Cotterill is an active member of numerous medical societies including the Canadian Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and The International Society of Hair Resoration Surgery, for which he has served  on the Board of Governors and is a past President of the ISHRS. Dr. Cotterill is board certified with the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) and has been on the Board of Directors for the ABHRS as well as being an examiner. Dr Cotterill is a proud member of Operation Restore, the ISHRS Pro Bono Committee. He is also the current Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Comittee for the ISHRS. For the province of Ontario , Canada , Dr Cotterill is an out of hospital premise inspector of hair transplant clinics for the College of Physician and Surgeons of Ontario.

Dr. Cotterill takes a full and active part in the surgical, treatment for each patient performing only one procedure at a time. This includes the removal of grafts from the donor area, the making of each and every recipient site, to supervising the placement and insertion of grafts. Dr. Cotterill sees each patient personally in consultation and does not use non-medical consultants. Dr. Cotterill believes that each patient deserves the full attention and expertise of the physician.
