About the Doctor

The practice at 61 Wimpole Street has been carrying out hair restoration surgery since the late 1970's. Dr. Michael May, the present surgeon in charge, is a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons and has been carrying out surgery since 1982. He is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and Vice President of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery. He has carried out over 6,000 operations and is one of the few surgeons in the United Kingdom whose time is almost exclusively devoted to hair restoration surgery. He attends on an annual basis the major meetings of the International Society and also those of the European Society. He has been able to observe first hand the transition from the 4mm round punch graft to the more sophisticated methods of mini and microsurgery used today. He has seen the swings in popularity of reductions, flaps and other major procedures which have played a part in hair restoration surgery.

The Practice is ideal placed in the West End of London and can be reached easily by road, rail and air. Local hotels provide facilities for overnight stay when required. Dr. May and his team of nurse and 2 technicians are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in hair transplantation and the care of our patients before, during and after surgery. We are careful to keep up to date with the latest techniques and are currently using the stereoscopic microscope for graft desection. The Trichology Department at the Practice is able to advise on hair loss and other related problems in men and women and the use of medical of treatment in the younger man with hair loss or stabilize hair loss in the older man is encouraged.
