About the Doctor
Dr. Keene is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and as a specialist in hair restoration surgery for over 20 years, has contributed to many innovations in the field. She is the President and medical director of Physician’s Hair Institute in Tucson, AZ, with a satellite office in Paradise Valley, AZ. As an advocate for evidence based medicine, and the advancement of science in hair restoration, she lectures, demonstrates, chairs workshops, and has authored numerous medical articles helping to educate and exchange information with colleagues. She has participated in numerous ISHRS committees to advance consumer safety and improve quality of care in the field. This includes researching the variable response to finasteride based on epigenetics of the androgen receptor gene, and the response to minoxidil based on the amount of sulfur transferase in hair. She has also developed surgical instrumentation to improve surgical efficacy and ergonomics. Her research and device contributions earned her the prestigious Platinum Follicle Award in 2013. She has received numerous awards for lecturing and sharing her surgical techniques with her peers, some of whom have been her patients.
