Maxim Chumak, MD, ABHRS Diplomate, FISHRS is the founder and Medical Director of Hair By Dr. Max Restoration Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He has focused his clinical practice on hair restoration surgery since 2016, with particular expertise in physician-performed FUE, complex hair transplant repair, donor preservation, long-hair and no-shave FUE, robotic hair restoration, female hair transplantation, and the surgical management of patients with diverse hair types, including Afro-textured and tightly curled hair.

Dr. Chumak practices a highly individualized, surgeon-directed model of hair restoration. He treats only one surgical patient per day and personally performs the harvesting and implantation of every graft. Rather than delegating critical surgical steps to technicians, he remains directly involved throughout the procedure. His direct implantation technique utilizes sharp implanters, eliminating the need for traditional pre-made recipient sites in many cases. Particular emphasis is placed on careful donor management, lifetime graft planning, natural hairline design, graft handling, and preservation of future treatment options.

Dr. Chumak has extensive experience treating patients who require corrective or reconstructive hair transplantation after unsuccessful or overharvested procedures, including unnatural hairlines, scarring, depleted donor areas, poor graft direction, and other complications of prior surgery. His practice also incorporates advanced diagnostic tools, including high-resolution trichoscopy and objective hair-density assessment, to assist with treatment planning and long-term follow-up.

He utilizes both advanced manual FUE systems and robotic technology, including the ARTAS iX robotic hair restoration platform, and has participated in research and development involving robotic hair restoration technologies. His clinical interests also include regenerative therapies and the integration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) into selected hair-transplant and repair protocols.

Dr. Chumak is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and an active member and faculty participant of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS). He has lectured internationally on hair restoration surgery, robotic transplantation, regenerative medicine, and hyperbaric medicine and serves as Program Chair for the 2026 ISHRS World Congress in Rio de Janeiro.

Before specializing in hair restoration, Dr. Chumak completed a General Surgery internship at Michigan State University and a Family Medicine residency at Wayne State University. He also served approximately 14 years in the United States Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Major.

His philosophy is that successful hair restoration requires more than simply placing grafts. It requires careful diagnosis, preservation of the finite donor supply, meticulous surgical execution, realistic lifetime planning, and direct physician responsibility for the patient’s procedure and long-term outcome.
