ISHRS Fellowship Training Programs

The goal of the ISHRS’s Fellowship Training Program (FTP) is to assist the training fellow in developing the medical and surgical skills necessary to practice aesthetically-sound, safe hair restoration surgery. Formal training includes surgical anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of hair loss in males and females, and surgical techniques so that each trainee upon completion of the Program is comfortable and competent to make a proper diagnosis, and design and execute a treatment plan for patients with the most complex and difficult hair loss problems. Program are based on the ISHRS Core Curriculum and Core Competencies in Hair Restoration Surgery. To ensure that trainers provide such an educational environment, programs must meet specific guidelines both in terms of the credentials of the Program Director and the Program’s site. Fellowships are 9 to 12 months in duration with a minimum caseload requirement of at least 70 cases per training fellow.

The ISHRS Fellowship Training Committee oversees the FTP through the Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines for ISHRS-recognized Fellowship Training Programs. For those interested in becoming a Program Director, please review the documents below.

If you are a physician interested in participating as a training fellow in one of the listed programs, please review the Guidelines and contact the Program Director directly. Contact information for each director is maintained in the Find a Doctor search.
