21st Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery Spotlights All Things Hair, October 23-26, 2013, in San Francisco

GENEVA, IL. – September 23, 2013.When it comes to making headlines, singer/songwriter John Mayer and “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara have the type of star power that commands attention. Now, even their hair is stealing the limelight, according to results of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) new member survey released today.

The survey found 40.2 percent of ISHRS members chose John Mayer as the male celebrity with the most sought-after hair, while 34.2 percent of members voted Sofia Vergara as the female celebrity with the finest locks.

Today, the most natural looking hair restoration results are achieved through a delicate balance between the use of the latest technological developments and the art of hair restoration surgery. The ISHRS’s 21st Annual Scientific Meeting takes a closer look at the relationship between the art and science of hair restoration when more than 500 physicians and surgical assistants from around the world are expected to gather for this one-of-a-kind educational event, October 23-26, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, in San Francisco, Calif., USA.

Featuring presentations by the world’s foremost hair restoration experts on the latest research and scientific advances in diagnosing and treating hair loss, this premier scientific meeting offers attendees a unique opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, live patient viewing, and video surgery in high definition.

“Every year, physicians from many specialties – each contributing a different perspective and approach to hair restoration – come together to share their expertise and accelerate the development of therapeutic technologies,” said Carlos J. Puig, DO, president of the ISHRS. “We are committed to learning about the latest inventions and innovations not only to advance the field, but to ensure that we provide our patients with the best care and the most natural-looking results.”

A sampling of the hot topics to be presented at the ISHRS Annual Meeting includes:

  • Updated studies on the effectiveness of low level laser light therapy (LLLT) for treatment of hair loss
  • Bioenhancements of hair restoration surgery, such as the use of platelet rich plasma harvested from the patient’s own blood and a bioengineered cellular matrix
