Geneva, IL – March 24, 2014. The world’s longest running and most popular workshop on hair transplantation – the Orlando Live Surgery Workshop – will celebrate its 20th Anniversary April 9-12, 2014, at Lake Faith Surgery Center in Maitland, Fla.

Hosted by Orlando-based hair restoration surgeon and Workshop founder and chair Matt L. Leavitt, DO, and sponsored by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) and clinic sponsor Bosley, the Workshop will feature a comprehensive surgical and scientific research curriculum with a dozen live surgeries to be performed onsite. ISHRS Board member David Perez-Meza, MD, is co-chair of the Workshop.

“We have created a cutting-edge curriculum that has something for everyone – from novice to advanced hair restoration surgeons – with unmatched clinical training performed by leading experts in the field,” said Dr. Leavitt. “Looking back over the past 20 years, it’s gratifying to see how much hair transplants have evolved. These continual refinements further enhance our patients’ virtually undetectable, permanent results.”

Highlights of the four-day workshop include:

  • Latest techniques in eyebrow and eyelash transplantation
  • Update on efficacy of lasers for hair growth
  • The importance of hairline design
  • Considerations for female or ethnic patients
  • FUE surgical demonstrations with range of devices, including the newest robot technology
  • Update on emerging therapies: hair multiplication/cloning

In addition, an Orlando patient of the ISHRS Operation Restore program (a pro bono program designed to match prospective hair restoration patients suffering from hair loss as a result of an accident, trauma or disease with a physician willing to help those who lack the resources to obtain treatment on their own) will undergo a second surgery during the Workshop at no charge to correct traumatic hair loss she suffered on the job as a correctional officer. This local patient also will serve as a panelist on the Workshop’s Female Hair Loss Panel on Thursday, April 10.
